ENERPAC hydraulic cylinders were used to guarantee the safety of workers at the Gold Coast Desalination (GSD) Project.
Sixteen 50t CLL locknut cylinders were used to lift and position the osmosis modules designed to filter salts and minerals from sea water.
The companies working on the project, the GSD Alliance said the cylinders were used for load holding, movement, positioning. The cylinders allowed the apparatuses to be manipulated individually and collectively with accuracy.
The builders also said the hydraulics allowed them to ensure the safety of over 700 workers involved in the project.
The project is expected to provide approximately 125ML of fresh water to South East Queensland every day when it opens in November 2008.
