SMAC Moving Coil Actuators says it aims to replace 5% of pneumatic devices which are used in today’s industrial applications within the next five years.
According to SMAC, its electric direct drives utilize moving coil technology and are versatile to provide high reliability in comparison to conventional pneumatic devices.
The US based company says the drives linear movement is generated by high strength neodymium magnets and a voice coil, which is mounted on a linear guide. As the guide is the only contacting part, this increases the life of an electric actuator to more than 10 times when compared to a pneumatic actuator.
