EXAIR has released a stainless steel air knife designed to operate in highly corrosive environments.

The Super Air Knife is amplifies the surrounding air at a ratio of 40:1 and therefore consumes a third of the air of typical units. It ejects a small amount of compressed air through a thin slotted nozzle.

The company says the high volume, high velocity airstream can be used to block harmful vapours on plating operations, blowing corrosive chemicals off parts, drying pharmaceutical products and cooling hot materials such as molten glass.

The knife can withstand temperatures up to 427 degrees Celsius, has a quiet 69dB noise level and no moving parts to wear out.

According to the manufacturer, the device can be mounted in tight spaces as well as end-to-end without dead spots. It is available in lengths from 76 to 1372mm.
