PARKER Hannifin has launched the Compact Electro-Hydraulic Actuator, said to provide free standing actuation for space-critical, portable and remote applications.
The product is a self-contained, double-acting actuator with high power density at operating speeds of over 100mm/sec. It can produce up to 22.25kN of force on extension and up to 15.57kN on retraction.
The compact unit is said to be suited as an alternative to conventional linear movement technologies such as electromechanical and pneumatic drives.
The actuator comprises a high performance, double-acting hydraulic actuator, driven via a reversible gear pump, which is powered by an integrated 12V or 24V DC motor. All components are integrated into the monoblock housing.
The pump is enclosed within the hydraulic fluid reservoir, complete with integrated pressure relief and check valves.
The piston rod is manufactured from stainless steel, with a micro-finished cylinder bore featuring buna-nitrile and polyurethane sealing elements.
Unlike conventional ballscrew or linear motion systems, the electro-hydraulic actuator does not have backlash and does not require any form of gearing.
