COMPAIR has introduced a service for Australian industries it says can reduce compressed air expenses by up to 30%.

The company’s Airnergy Analysis provides a demand side audit of a facility’s compressed air usage, with a full measurement of energy use, airflow rates and pressures.

The service includes a newly-developed leak management plan, advice on correcting leaks, maintenance upgrades and the ability to compile detailed system reports.

According to the manufacturer, the intelligence provided by the system can be used to reduce the overcapitalisation of equipment as a result of upgrading or expansion.

The auditing service has been successfully used by Murray Goulburn Co-operative’s Leongatha dairy plant in Victoria. The reports recommended the installation of a 300kW Compair Quantima compressor system.

A single Quantima unit was able to replace four existing units and leave another two to provide standby air. According to the developer, after five months the system had already cut energy and maintenance costs by $147,000 and reduced carbon discharge by 1900t.

The company says a 300kW Quantima device could reduce carbon emissions by 2000t over ten years, the equivalent of taking 75 cars off the road or planting 16,000 trees.

The manufacturer is providing further information on the Quantima system at an ongoing series of breakfast seminars. The next seminar will be held in Sydney on 20 November 2008, before moving on to Brisbane in February, Adelaide in March and Perth and Auckland, NZ in May 2009.

Registration for the events is now open.
