JATO Precision has released an open-centre pneumatic cylinder which operates at low temperatures.
The JAL636-PL cylinders operate at temperatures lower than eight degrees Celsius when running at speeds of 6500RPM.
The unit is 144mm long and weighs 7.2kg. The company says it can achieve a pulling force of around 10 000Nm when the input air pressure is at seven bar.
According to the manufacturer, the device is designed for computer numerical control (CNC) lathes which use spring collets to clamp work-parts.
