EXAIR has released a device that uses an ionised airstream to eliminate static electricity and contaminants from continuously moving parts.

The Super Ion Air Wipe provides a uniform 360 degree ionised airstream which clamps around the part. The company says it is ideal for removing dust, particulates and shocks on pipes, cables, extruded shapes, hoses and wires.

According to the manufacturer, the unit uses a small amount of compressed air to entrain high volumes of room air. Two shockless ionising points, powered by a UL Listed five kilovolt power supply, fill the airstream with static eliminating ions. This airflow attaches itself to the surface of the material running through the wipe.

The force of the wiping action can be controlled with an optional pressure regulator. Pressures of 0.34 bar will produce effective static neutralisation. Higher pressures will produce a more forceful wiping action.

The unit has a lightweight and easily-mountable aluminium construction available in two sizes, including a 51mm diameter model with air consumption of 30SCFM and a 102mm version with air consumption of 50SCFM.
